Under The Rainbow

Under the Rainbow is a collection of short rhymes for children by Steve Matthews, illustrated in pastel and ink by Sharon Wassell. We have placed a number of the illustrations on this site for you to look at and enjoy. Although all of the rhymes and illustrations are "stand alone", there is a series of connections between the pages which we hope will be fun for the reader to make. The book is very colourful and, we hope, eyecatching. Therefore we would like to think that Under the Rainbow will appeal to younger children of a wide age range - the pages are suitable for all ages in fact! The range of vibrant characters introduced include Professor Cat, Mr and Mrs Octopus, Doctor Do It All, The Dancing Elephant, Willie Wand and Debra the Zebra. The emphasis is on fun, in a way which is both original and yet also reassuringly warm and nostalgic. A lot of love has been mixed into the pages of this little book, so we do hope you enjoy it!
